Tarte ‘Tartelette in Bloom’ Review…My new love affair!

Can I get this palette in the UK? YES!!!

Where? Details listed at the end of the post.

I have had my eye on this gorgeous palette for so long! I already knew that I was a fan of the formulation of Tarte eyeshadows as I already own the original Tartelette palette (the more cool toned, all matte older sister) from QVCUK. You can get a selection of Tarte products from QVCUK and its a great place to shop with 30 days money back guarantee, occasional easy pay offers and its a fairly straightforward shopping experience. However, the hot products (like this palette) go out of stock super quickly, new releases often come out much later and you rarely get the limited editions.

So when tartecosmetics.com finally starting shipping to the UK I was both jumping with joy but hesitant about international shipping and taxes. Upon my first order I realised that it wasn’t bad at all if you order at the right time. If like me you love Tarte products or really want to try them, it is a great idea to sign up to their newsletter for exclusive sales, discounts, new releases and offers. There have great 20%-30% sales off everything occasionally, free shipping offers on a very reasonable spend (get your wish lists ready).

Now let’s get on to the palette! Firstly the packaging is just stunning (and yes… I am shallow… pretty packaging gets me every time!)

The palette is bright, girly and flirty yet sophisticated and elegant. The cover is adorned with pretty fuchsia pink and violet petals framed in gold with the name of the palette splashed across the middle in gold casual handwriting. The palette itself is made of gold metal and is strong and sturdy with a magnetic closure that keeps your shadows safe and hygienic. It is compact and travel friendly and I appreciate the large mirror that allows me to do my makeup on the go (or to check if everything is in place, because lets be honest, more often then not, they aren’t!)

The eyeshadows are predominantly warm toned, mostly matte with the exception of three beautiful shimmers. There is a range of highlight, crease and smoky shades that gives you variation when creating eye looks. You can create simple day time looks, easy one eyeshadow looks or pull out all the stops with layers of eyeshadows for a glamorous look. The eyeshadows are organised in rows that are meant to guide your looks and organise the shadows into quads to create a complete look. but you can place your eyeshadow brush into whatever shade takes your fancy! Each shadow has the signature quality ‘Tarte’ stamp on it which I just love.

The eyeshadows are very soft, buttery and pigmented so approach with caution. They blend out with minimal effort creating flawless look regardless of how experienced you are at doing makeup (have this palette up your sleeve and you will impress like a pro!) Now on to the colours (I apologise in advance for the absence of swatches)

Row one…

Charmer– Matte: Light warm toned beige, great as a base

Jetsetter– Matte: A medium (slightly warm) taupish brown.

Rocker– Shimmer: Taupish brown that is medium to dark and has a frosty (but not chunky) shimmer.

Smokeshow– Matte: cool toned blackish brown.

Row two…

Flower child– Matte: light peachy pink nude.

Smarty Pants-Matte: medium gingery brown/ tan

Firecracker– Shimmer: golden coppery bronzy brown.

Activist– Matte: Cool toned dark brown.

Finally Row three…

Funny Girl– Shimmer: Light medium champagne gold.

Sweetheart– Matte: A warm peachy apricot

Rebel– Matte: Warm chestnut brown.

Leader– Matte: A dark red toned brownish aubergine.

Final thoughts, I think that throughout the palette the quality of the shades are consistent, they apply beautifully and are long wearing (I do however always use an eyeshadow primer). The colours are warm tones and on trend and this is a perfect all rounder neutral palette for those that adore all things warm. The additional charming and confident personalities of the shade names give you a girl power bounce in your step.

QVCUK For £42.50 + £3.50 p&p, in stock on the date this post was published, however, it does go out of stock quickly and the price varies. It comes with a free dual ended brush. If it is out of stock don’t worry, they regularly restock but you may have to wait a bit.
